Sookie's boyfriend has been very distant-in another state, distant. Now she's off to Mississippi to mingle with the underworld at Club Dead-a little haunt where the vampire elite go to chill out. But when she finally finds Bill-caught in an act of betrayal-she's not sure whether to save him...or sharpen some stakes.

4 stars

Sookie feels that her boyfriend Bill is more distant, and doesn't really know how to deal with him lying to her. However, once Eric tells her Bill is missing and probably cheated on her with a previous lover, she doesn't hesitate to help the vampires search for him. And to help her with this, she has the help of the nice werewolf Alcide.

I enjoyed this book's pace as much more happens and we get more of the outside world and less of Sookie's head. However, this book is laying foundations for the next ones as more supernaturals are brought into the light and Bill is slowly being pushed aside. It is a very entertaining read even after the second time.
