Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling and the second novel in the Harry Potter series. The plot follows Harry's second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, during which a series of messages on the walls of the school's corridors warn that the "Chamber of Secrets" has been opened and that the "heir of Slytherin" would kill all pupils who do not come from all-magical families. These threats are found after attacks that leave residents of the school petrified. Throughout the year, Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione investigate the attacks. The book was published in the United Kingdom on 2 July 1998 by Bloomsbury and later in the United States on 2 June 1999 by Scholastic Inc. Harry is back at Hogwarts for his second year, but him and Ron arrive by flying car when they both lose the train. Which means a lot of trouble for them before the classes even have a chance to start. This time things get darker, as it is found that Hogwarts has been sitting on a monster: the chamber of secrets. And someone has opened it again...

Funny how this was my least favourite book in the series, and after re-reading it, I found it very good! Maybe I did not pay attention the first time I read it, or the Portuguese version lacks a lot of the suspense the original one has. This time I enjoyed this a lot, and you can tell the darkness is approaching... I cannot wait to read the next one, which was my favourite in the series. Let's see how that holds.
