Set in England during the late Victorian era, the play's humour derives in part from characters maintaining fictitious identities to escape unwelcome social obligations. It is replete with witty dialogue and satirises some of the foibles and hypocrisy of late Victorian society. It has proved Wilde's most enduringly popular play. - [Wikipedia][1]

John Worthing is in love with Gwendolen Fairfax and wants to marry her, but unfortunately she knows him by the name of Ernest and that is the reason she fell for him. Then there is Algernon Moncrieff, who in order to meet Cecily Cardew pretends to be Ernest Worthing, John's younger brother. As Gwendolen, Cecily is more in love with the name than with the man. The four get together at the Worthing's country house and hilarity ensues.

This play is timeless and hilarious, I felt the urge to quote something on every page. My brother heard me laughing from another room, that is how much I enjoyed reading and listening to this. Wilde wrote witty and wonderful dialogues, this story gets me every time!
