So the "they only act like they don't like each other because they are uncomfortable admitting they like each-other" plot continues. Nakahara ups the tension a bit by first introducing an old girlfriend of Otani and then an old schoolmate of Risa's with a huge crush on her, which was honestly a real relief because oh my goodness is the gender policing and pressure to conform strong with this one. At least once her old schoolmate shows up we get to hear at least one person appreciate Risa for who she is and not wish she was shorter, more delicate, and/or more ladylike.

Unfortunately for myself, this sort of gender policing probably made the series that much more relatable to my own life. I assume that things will become a bit more accepting once they finally admit to liking each other, which I do believe happens before the end? Honestly, …

And today I'm doing my initial impressions of the Manga series Love Com aka Lovely Complex by Aya Nakahara. I originally read this series back in college or something, I have been meaning to reread it for the channel for a while now and it takes care of the "read a Romance manga" challenge for Manga Hoarders' reading challenge so why not. I'm trying out a new style for my videos so here's the spoiler-free what you need to know.

As I said, Love Com (or lovely complex) was created by Aya Nakahara and translated by Pookie Rolf. The series is 17 volumes long and has also been adapted into an anime series, a PlayStation 2 game and a live action movie. There is apparently a sequel but it has yet to be translated …
