Review: Body in Library

Despite reading a fair bit of Christie, this is my first Miss Marple. I can't say I'm impressed. The plot feels overly contrived, especially the lengths Christie goes to in order to manufacture the titular aspect (i.e. the body in the library). The fact that she needs to add a foreword explaining it says that there are problems with the concept.

For me, the biggest problem is that Miss Marple is barely in it. I'm not sure if this is typical or not for Miss Marple mysteries, but I found it annoying, especially in comparison to the Hercule Poirot stories. Review of 'The Body in the Library' on 'Goodreads'

Based on a cliché, a body of a young girl is found in the library of the Bantrys. The owners of the house do not recognise the girl, but the gossip in the village shows that no one believes Mr Bantry. It is time for Miss Marple to step up and help her friends by solving the murder and finding the real killer. I always enjoy Christie's writing and this is no exception. The beginning of the book with Mrs Bantry waking up from a dream and proceeding to wake up her husband is delicious!
