Asher's wife dies when she gives birth to their daughter, and Charlie learns he is now a collector of souls, sort of one of Death's helper. He wasn't ready to be a single parent, let alone someone who stalks people on the verge of dying, but for his baby he is ready to rally again.
This is a fun book, it is compelling at first but then plot development slows down a lot. Half way through the book I though about giving up, but close to the the middle it feels like the author found his story again, and the book became funny, and silly, and it was very easy to finish. Some dialogues are laugh out loud funny, and the descriptions of the fantastical parts of the story built great scenarios in my head. Having said that, the book could be shorter and there are way too many sentences …
