I did not know the whole story in advance, but since it is popular to this day I decided to give it a go. Johansson does a wonderful job of voicing all the animals and is the main reason I gave it 3 stars. I cannot say I enjoyed the story very much, probably because it is very strange and gets weirder and weirder without being humorous. Maybe I should have read it as a child, as an adult I feel like I missed the whole point of the book.
