Review of 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
Mr and Mrs Darcy have been together for 4 years but Elizabeth is not happy. After a particularly baffling confession from Elizabeth, Darcy is dumbfounded and bitten by a zombie. Elizabeth asks her arch-enemy Lady Catherine de Bourgh for help because she is believed to have a mysterious antidote, and there is nothing Elizabeth will not do to cure her husband.
This book was very entertaining. When I first started, I thought it was great that the author had the liberty to choose the story instead of following one of the most beloved ones ([b:Pride and Prejudice and Zombies|5899779|Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, #1)|Seth Grahame-Smith|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1320449653s/5899779.jpg|6072122]), but soon I changed my mind and thought this was inferior to the first. This submissive Elizabeth was not the Elizabeth I had pictured in my mind and things were not going as I hoped for. However, as soon as Mary enters the scene, the story somersaults - like its many (many) ninjas - and drastically changes its course. It has good fights, very satisfying crunchy deaths, witty dialogues and fun/weird characters. It is a great read and I ended up liking it better than the first. And although Mary is a great character, it is Kitty who carries the book.
