As the third son of Mother Malice and weaponmaster Zaknafein, Drizzt Do’Urden must be sacrificed to Lolth, the evil Spider Queen, per the traditions of their matriarchal drow society. Choosing a Drow for a new D&D campaign, I figured I’d best come to terms with the most famous of them all, Drizzt Do’Urden.
A well-written book what with the grammar & world building, but an eye-rolling character & arc. Chosen by fate, best at everything, showered with magical gifts & lucky lucky luck, why are ppl so cruel to me, the beautiful & misunderstood... etc. etc. It’s a Mary-Sue Male fantasy bordering on the incel at times (Women! They’re all against me!) but fairly entertaining for the descriptions of the Underdark & Drow society - which is what I read it for. Great success!
I didn’t hate it but probably won’t wade through any more from this series.
