Darynda Jones: A Bad Day for Sunshine (Paperback, 2021, St. Martin's Griffin) 4 stars

Review of 'A Bad Day for Sunshine' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

Sunshine Vicram is elected sheriff of a small town called Del Sol (of course) and on her first day on the job a girl is abducted from her home. The girl knew this would happen and described everything in detail, including her death - which means Sunshine has only three days to find her.

Darynda Jones is good with her crime plots. I never see the twists coming, even though I know they will. It's interesting to read a book from Daryinda where the main characters do no have superpowers, even though there is a bit of supernatural flowing around. There's even a nice nod to Charley Davidson that I particularly loved. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it takes some time to pick up pace, I gave up twice before switching to the audiobook and that's when I finished it. Stick with it, the story and funny dialogues are worth the time and there's a lot of material left for more series.
