I have not read all the plays by Wilde, but this is not as funny as others, although it is witty and highly critical of the british upper class. The play focus on the discrimination that women of the time had to endure while the men that brought their ruin were free to do as they wished. Some of its witty lines were later recycled in other plays, but the main plot takes a while to take off. I am glad the end of this one is as "fictional" as it gets: the good characters are given a happy ending.
