My favourite genre is fantasy but I also love comedy, which means I am a big fan of Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman and CK McDonnell. Truth is, I'll read anything!

Review of 'LIFE OF PI' on 'Goodreads'

I was surprised by the whole story, specially considering I bought the book because it has a tiger on the cover (my bad). It starts slowly (and maybe a little boring) but as soon as they get on that ship, I couldn't put the book down. I found it extremely intriguing since in my wildest dreams I couldn't make up where the story was going and the whole idea is so far-fetched, I couldn't help but read it ferociously to reach the end. Richard Parker will definitely stay with me. What a great read.

The untold story of how poison rocked Jazz Age New York City. A pair of …

Review of "The poisoner's handbook" on 'Goodreads'

Truth is reality often surpasses fantasy and crimes of the "jazz age" in NY can be as enthralling as any good crime fiction book, or even better since you can research some of the main characters later on the Internet and discover a lot more horrid facts about them (or good ones, depends on who you choose to research!). But the best of all is learning how forensic medicine evolved and learning a lot about poisons and exactly what makes them deadly (or not). Furthermore, I also discovered that the US government chose to poison people who drank during the dry years - I'm still in shock with this discovery and I'm not even american. Very good book, gives you a great insight not only to poisons and how they work, but also to real-life heroes who devoted their life to learn about poisons' chemistry in order to unravel a …

Neil Gaiman: The Graveyard Book (Hardcover, 2008, HarperCollins Pub.)

Review of 'The graveyard book' on 'Goodreads'

Such a lovely book that takes place in an unusual scenario. I think that's one of the greatest things about this story, it warms us to a graveyard that is raising a boy in odd circumstances. I loved how the characters are named after their tombstones and the strange and mysterious "people" Nob encounters along the way and that will help him defeat the reason why he is hidden in the graveyard.

Jeaniene Frost: Destined For an Early Grave (EBook, 2009, HarperCollins)

Her deadly dreams leave her in grave dangerSince half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover …

Review of 'Destined For an Early Grave' on 'Goodreads'

Since I'm reading the 5th book and enjoying it loads (insert a sight of relief here), I can finally write a review about this one. Cat and Bones are on their deserved holiday together and Cat starts having nightmares because of a vampire named Gregor. Turns out this vampire belongs to Cat's past and even though she can't remember a thing about him, he will throw a fight to get her back. This is where the story started slipping for me, mixing a new past to twist the present makes me cringe as I try hard not to think of eventual plot holes.

Then the main characters kind of turn stupid. I was surprised at how much of Cat's great attitude was lost in this book: she whines a lot, drinks a lot and is headstrong in a surprisingly stupid way since she knows Gregor is coming for her and …

reviewed First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones (Charley Davidson, Book 1)

Oh, I loved this book! I kept citing its funniest moments and laughing out loud - by the way avoid reading this on public transportation: people will look at you suspiciously! It's funny, the main characters are very likeable and the suspense/crime story helps keeping the pace. I was really surprised about how interesting a book about a (very bright) female grim reaper and her "ghost" lover could be. Completely taken by surprise and I highly recommend it!
